Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 9, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how theCam collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use the platform.
1. Introduction
Welcome to theCam (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
2. Information We Collect
A. For Clients
When you use theCam as a client, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
We do not collect or store payment card information. All payments are securely processed through Stripe.
B. For Photographers & Videographers (“Pros”)
When you sign up as a Pro, we collect:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Location data (for matching with clients)
Additional verification information (such as identity verification and background checks) is handled by trusted third-party providers:
- Identity verification via Stripe Identity
- Background checks via Checkr
We do not directly store or process sensitive identity documents used for verification.
C. Automatically Collected Information
We may automatically collect limited technical data such as:
- Device type
- IP address
- App usage data
This helps us improve performance and user experience.
D. Device and Account-Safety Signals
To keep theCam safe, and to stop people who have been removed from the platform from returning under a new account, the theCam iOS app collects a small set of device signals:
- An app install identifier — a random ID the app creates and stores on your device.
- Apple’s identifier for vendor (IDFV) — an ID Apple assigns to your device for apps published by theCam.
- An Apple DeviceCheck token. DeviceCheck is an Apple service that lets us ask Apple to remember two yes/no values about your device for theCam, such as whether the device has been associated with a serious violation of our terms. Apple does not share your device identity with us, and we do not receive any information about other apps or your Apple ID.
- A hashed fingerprint of the payment card you use, provided by Stripe, which lets us recognise when the same card is used across accounts without our ever storing card numbers.
We store these identifiers in hashed (one-way) form, together with the accounts and IP addresses they have been used with. They are used only for security, fraud prevention, and enforcing our terms — never for advertising, and never to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data to:
- Provide and operate the platform
- Match clients with Pros
- Enable bookings and communication
- Improve our services
- Ensure safety and trust (including background checks for Pros)
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and attempts to evade a suspension or ban (see Section 2D)
- Send important account or service-related notifications
4. How Payments Work
All payments on theCam are processed through Stripe.
- We do not store your credit card details
- Payment data is handled in accordance with Stripe’s security and compliance standards
6. Data Retention
We retain your information only as long as necessary to:
- Provide our services
- Comply with legal obligations
- Resolve disputes
Device and account-safety signals (Section 2D) may be kept after an account is closed or suspended for as long as needed to prevent the same device or payment method from being used to evade that suspension.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your data
- Request deletion
- Correct inaccurate information
If you believe your account or device has been flagged in error, contact us and we will review it.
To make a request, contact us at [email protected].
9. Third-Party Services
Our platform integrates with third-party services, including:
- Stripe
- Stripe Identity
- Checkr
- Apple DeviceCheck (device integrity, iOS app only)
These providers have their own privacy policies governing their use of your data.
10. Children's Privacy
theCam is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
